What should I expect during the CoolSculpting® Elite treatment?
The CoolSculpting® treatment is a comfortable procedure that can last between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the treatment area and the patient’s treatment goals. Once the CoolSculpting® Elite applicator is placed on the body, you can expect an initial cooling or pinching sensation. However, the treatment area typically goes numb within a few minutes, and you are able to relax for the duration of your treatment. Most patients are able to read, watch tv, or even take a nap during the treatment.
Is there any downtime after the procedure?
After the CoolSculpting® Elite treatment, you may notice tingling, redness, or sensitivity in the treatment area. These effects are often minor and typically fade within a day or two. Generally, patients are able to resume all normal activities immediately following their CoolSculpting® treatment. You will be able to return to work, exercise, and do all other activities without a problem.
When can I expect to see results?
The results from CoolSculpting® Elite develop gradually as the body eliminates destroyed fat cells from the system. You may begin to notice results as early as three weeks after your treatment. However, most patients notice more significant results between one and three months after their CoolSculpting® Elite treatment. In fact, your results may continue to improve for as long as six months after treatment. Depending on your treatment goals, we may recommend a series of CoolSculpting® Elite treatments for optimal results.
Are the results of the CoolSculpting® Elite treatment permanent?
The CoolSculpting® Elite treatment by Allergan permanently destroys and eliminates the treated fat cells. This means that the results from CoolSculpting® can be incredibly long-lasting, and even permanent. However, future weight gain can affect the results of your CoolSculpting® Elite treatment. We work closely with patients to help them develop healthy diet and exercise habits so that they are able to maintain the results from their CoolSculpting® Elite treatment for as long as possible.
Who is a candidate for the CoolSculpting® Elite treatment?
The best candidates for CoolSculpting® Elite are already at or near their healthy body weight, but find that they have a few problems spots that just aren’t responding to diet or exercise. Candidates should also be in good overall physical and mental health and have realistic expectations about their results.
Who is NOT a candidate for the CoolSculpting® Elite treatment?
The CoolSculpting® Elite procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting® Elite procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. The CoolSculpting® Elite procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if the CoolSculpting® Elite procedure is right for you.
Does the CoolSculpting® Elite treatment hurt?
Our patients find the procedure to be gentle and easy to tolerate. Anesthesia and pain medication is not needed so patients can read a book, listen to music, work on their laptop or just relax during the procedure. When the applicator is placed on the skin, patients feel pulling from the vacuum pressure that brings the skin into contact with the cooling panels. When the procedure begins, patients feel a cooling sensation that goes away after a few minutes as the cooling produces an anesthetic effect. After the procedure, there is no downtime and patients can resume their normal activities the same day, including work and exercise.
Will I experience bruising after the CoolSculpting® Elite treatment?
Bruising is patient-specific and normal. It is patient and location-specific. We find that some patients bruise more than others and to a varying degree in different locations.
How is CoolSculpting® Elite different than liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure where sometimes you may need to be asleep, it is more invasive, and you will experience downtime post-treatment. You may also see some bruising around the treated area.
With CoolSculpting® Elite, however, it is an entirely non-invasive, non-surgical procedure, with no downtime so you can get back to your life, that same day!
